      Hi Ciara,

      Thanks for your question. I am relatively young in my research job, and it takes a longgg time to find out something VERY interesting that will make the public news. For example, in research people may work on one project for like 10 years to discover something!

      But everyday, there are little things that are interesting such as when we put a few different chemicals into a glass, and they react with each other to make brand new molecules. Then we can actually find out what these molecules look like by using some machines and solving the structure like a puzzle.

      In my work, we use enzymes from bacteria cells to make molecules too, and it’s cool when they can do this because it’s not their natural function.
