      Hi Lauren, great question!

      For the virus to infect cells, it has to attach to the surface using its spikes (thats why the virus is called ”coronavirus”, because the spikes look like a crown). Our drug blocks the surface of the cell, so the virus can no longer recognize or attach to it. Our experiments show that when the drug is used, the virus is unable to infect cells.
